Heya Horror Gal I recently heard the episode where you recommended the original Descent and stated it was fabulous and scary because it was dark and in this second one you said it was much better because it was brighter, you are contradicting yourself so I am just curious which did you think was more scary?
Since you both rated this so high I will have to buy this one. The original one was pretty good.
Hi Rebekka,
Yes I did recommend The Descent in one of our Thriller Chiller picks and I gave it a rating of a 9, The Descent 2 I rated a 10 I thought it was a lot better than the original. The first one was much darker and you don’t see the creatures as much, this one you see a lot more of the creatures and the kill scenes so The Descent 2 is more scary. More jump scenes better video effects and sound also. You won’t be disappointed with the sequel if you enjoyed the first. Thanks for listening!
jumping jeebs a 10 gal. your saying thats a perfect horror movie. im shocked. i havent seen it yet but will be renting it soon.
ive listened to all 33 shows so far and if im not mistaken i think its the first time either of you have rated a movie a 10, outside the chiller picks.
totally enjoy your podcast.
Isn’t this a hoot, I was looking for “Pig Mutant” horror movies on Bing and came across your podcast. I am glad I found you because I really like this audio commentary. Super stuff and now I will go back and listen to some of your other episodes.
I never comment on websites but felt like your show needed a little pat on it’s back. I just got done listening to another horror podcaster (will remained nameless, don’t think I should call them out, but a little clue there on episode 38) on a review of Descent 2. Your review, rating and descriptions are so much better than the other podcaster. Not only that but the production value and audio quality is far superior. For me you have a lifetime listener and I really enjoy your horror podcast.
ive seen the movie Descent and frankly speaking i really dont like that movie. Your audio review is nice and nice website indeed.
oooooo….the descent 2 is out, didnt even know there was a sequel and since you all rated this hi, going to grab this right now through your link….thank you for new release ratings and keep the podcasts coming in.
Thanks to your podcast I watched both Descents and really liked them, very creepy.
Wes Craven’s ’77 version of The Hills Has Eyes was better but I too liked the remake Horrorgal.
Shazaam! A 10 Horror Gal – I will buy The Descent 2 tonight, you haven’t let me down with your ratings yet.
i will avoid the lake movie, thx for the info, also checked out the maniac cop episode and i am excited on seeing that trilogy – ordered yesterday – all 3 will be here this week.
viola… this posdcast was something i was seeking for last couple of hours.. thanks buddy
I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: Scary-Horror choose The Descent 2: Action-Horror choose Maniac Cop.
A great listen your podcast is. Informative and to the point.
im surprised how good the second descent is, usually sequels are duds ….. thanks alot for an awesome episode
Very understandable that you liked The Descent movies so much Horrorgal, since you recommended The Hills Have Eyes, very similar movies. Mutant-humans that kill. Let me suggest a few more for you that you will probably enjoy, 1) The Cave from 2005 and 2) Cloverfield, I think 2008.
Wonderful podcast, keeps me entertained every week.
Very good podcast. I just stumbled upon your blog and wanted to say that I have really enjoyed listening. Your blog is amazing with lots of comments. Any way I will be subscribing to your feed and getting your broadcast delivered on my Nano. By the way cant wait to see Descent2. Thanks!
I love these human/mutant mixes makes for some scary moments-will definitely get Descent and part 2.
I can see that you two are experts at your field! I am launching a horror website soon, maybe you will check it out and let me know what you think. Wishing you all the success with your fine podcast. A lovely listen!
hi there right on the mark with crooked lake what junk and a waste of time, your site is so good and well formed
Maniac Cop was awesome Horror Guy, I also really liked the theme episode you guys did on thr trilogy, thanks for the awareness of the series. Great pick also Horror Gal, the mutant humans were scary in the Hills Have Eyes, kept you on the edge of your seat.
excellent episode and some really good horror movie reviews here – gordey from the uk
Because of your recommendations on both of the Descent movies we watched them back to back. The Descent was SO good…I really loved it. The Descent 2 wasn’t bad…I guess I was dissapointed because I thought it would be a lot better. I don’t like how it wasn’t dark in the cave…it didn’t make sense where all this light was coming from and took away the scare factor for me. It was a decent sequel though.
