Podcast 171 — What We Do in the Shadows, The Taking of Deborah Logan, Pernicious, Residue, Seventh Son, The Giver, The Hobbit 3

resizeNever trust an 8,000-year-old vampire

Welcome, dear listeners, to The Horror Movie Show hosted by Mark & Jerry, those lovable waifs. This episode features reviews of seven new movies. That’s at least two more reviews than any other horror movie review show would ever dare to include. But that’s why HMPod is the Champagne of Horror Review Podcasts.

The guys begin by discussing the very funny vampire comedy What We Do in the Shadows, co-directed & starring Jemaine Clement, half of the Flight of the Conchords comedy band & sitcom. Doing for bloodsucking freaks what Shaun of the Dead did for zombies, this is a wild & crazy little feature.

The Taking of Deborah Logan is next reviewed, followed by writer-director James Cullen Bressack‘s newest feature, Pernicious. After that is the sort-of-made-for-TV Residue.

Next up is a pair of oddities starring the inconsistent but occasionally brilliant Jeff Bridges: Seventh Son & The Giver. And we wrap this episode with a look at The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Unless something terrible happens, that should be the last time Peter Jackson gets his mitts on anything to do with J.R.R. Tolkien….

Please note that for the near future, new episodes of The Horror Movie Show will now appear every two weeks, rather than weekly. Enjoy!
